Biography
Dez Miller received their PhD from Emory’s Comparative Literature department and now serves as the Associate Director of the Atlanta Interdisciplinary AI Network (AIAI). Their PhD dissertation, City Water: Urban Rivers as Cultural Infrastructure,examines how dominant cultural narratives flatten and commodify urban rivers, and how literature and art record and resist that flattening. Using both computational and close reading approaches, Dez is interested in how ecological problems get negotiated across media, including novels, films, newspapers, and social media. In addition, Dez writes about the intersections between literary theory and AI output and structure.
